WHY ARE SOFT SKILLS IMPORTANT


When we sit in an interview we are always asked this question “What are your Skills?”. And most of the time people get confused while answering this question. You might have listened that soft-skills are important to work in a corporate sector. It has almost become a usual chorus. Your soft skills decide whether you are a great team leader or a great teamworker. Soft skills are not a technical skills like others they can’t be taught in classes. Soft-skills are you inner personal skills which you develop step by step by your experience and teamwork. A person with no social interactions and experience how to deal with people can’t develop soft-skills. Corporate sector is all about dealing with corporations and handling social connections and this cannot be possible without great communication skill or we can say that soft-skills. If we browse on the internet there are a lot of tips and tricks to develop your communication skill, to develop your ability to work with lots of people as a team. But do you think that these mere tips and tricks can actually work? Maybe they can but one and only method to have these skills is “BEING SOCIAL”. So, here are some keynotes you must always keep in mind to improve your soft-skills.

ACTIVE LISTENER - As there is a saying that “A good orator must be a great listener”. So, always remember before commencing a conversation is first to be a patient listener. Your listening ability should be at zenith. While having a presentation or a meeting at your work place you should always listen to your team members first and then keep your views and opinions before them. This will earn you the respect from your team workers and you seniors.

ALWAYS REACT HONESTLY - After the task of listening, you should focus on how to react. If you are satisfied with the presentation or the views of your colleagues you should always compliment them. If you want to make some changes, never be dominating always give your opinions to them. And your convincing power should be strong. If you want to give orders you must learn to take orders. Only then you can realize the feelings of others.

DECISION MAKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING - You should be quick, rational, just and sincere in taking decision. You must have the empathy and a problem solving deportment. You should be wise enough to take the charge and guide others if they face any problem. The employees who have these two abilities can take the management to excellent level.

WORK ETHICS - So, this can be a difficult quality to achieve but work ethics are much more important than any other skill to work smoothly in any sector. Work ethics include punctuality, enthusiasm towards your work, your daily or weekly tasks should be upto date. You may need a proper motivation to develop work ethics.

In a nutshell sincerity, punctuality, ethics, loyalty and rationality must be the essential traits to develop soft-skills to be a good team worker and a team leader.
